One of the premiere features of Rodeo Week in Woodward is the longhorn steer drive through downtown on Tuesday, the day before the rodeo officially starts.
Folks in Woodward lined 9th Street and Main Street to watch the drive, featuring the Chain Ranch Longhorn steers. The drive arrived in town about 1 p.m. on its way to the Cyrstal Beach Rodeo Arena.
The cattle drive has been part of the Woodward Elks Rodeo for the past 11 years and the steers will also be one of the features of each rodeo performance as they are brought into the arena every night. They will also be on Main Street again Saturday for the parade.
Rodeo activities on Wednesday include the Main Street hamburger feed at Centennial Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is free.
The rodeo performance is set for 8 p.m. with some kids events at 7:30 p.m.
