Woodward, Okla. — Haylee Bates homered twice and Jessica Burkhart once as the Boomers defated Beaver 13-5 in high school softball action at the WHS diamond on Monday.
Bates hit a solo homer and grand slam to finish with 5 runs-batted-in while Burkhart belted a 2-run homer in the first inning and had 3 RBI in the game.
Courtney Cook had 3 hits and Kameron Pope, Sierra Irwin, Laira Fowler and Hillary Hurst 2 each for Woodward.
Adyson Clark was the winning pitcher, striking out 7.
The Boomers will go to Clinton on Thursday and Piedmont on Friday. Next week, Woodward hosts Arnett and Guymon on Monday with Senior Night activities scheduled before the final game, then goes to Pioneer on Tuesday.
Next Thursday, Woodward will host Guymon in the Class 4A District 1 tournament, a best of 3 series.
