MOORELAND – A 10-run second inning carried Mooreland to an 11-3 victory over Woodward in high school softball action here Monday.
Mooreland trailed 3-1 after the first inning, but took advantage of 4 Woodward errors in the big second frame. The Bearcats also got a bases-loaded triple from Kylea Wilson and 3-RBI double from Chelsay Adams. Mooreland had 8 hits in the inning and Adams drove in 4 runs.
The Boomers scored 3 in the first inning as Danielle Ramirez and Haylee Bates doubled and Taitum Hoffman singled. Two of the runs scored on wild pitches.
Bates and Ramirez both had 2 hits in the game.
Mooreland raised its record to 12-2. The Boomers are 12-4.
Mooreland also won the JV game, 6-2.
Woodward hosts Elk City and Forgan today with games starting at 4:30 p.m. Mooreland goes to Sharon-Mutual
The Lady Bearcats were coming off a second place finish in the Leedey Tournament on Saturday.
On that final day, Mooreland beat Lookeba-Sickles 11-1, Hammon 3-2 and Sentinel 8-7 to reach the title round where it lost to Leedey 11-3.
