MOORELAND – Watonga advanced both teams into tonight’s championship games of the Mooreland Holiday Classic.
The Eagle girls defeated Sayre 44-21 and the boys beat Mooreland 87-46 in Friday’s semifinal games.
In the later semifinals, Mooreland’s girls were playing Timberlake and the Vici boys were playing Sayre.
The girls championship is at 7 p.m. tonight and the boys is 8:20 p.m.
Bradi Schenk scored 14 points and Crystal Fowler 13 to lead the Watonga girls past Sayre.
Sam Harless had 16 for Sayre, which had upset Vici on Thursday.
Watonga’s boys scored early and often against the Mooreland Bearcats.
Eleven different players scored for the Eagles led by Donnell Hayes with 16 points. Jesse Brewer and Trevon Hartfield added 15 each.
Mooreland got a big night from Austin Delong with 11 points and Sammy Kruckenberg scored 9.
In consolation action on Friday the Vici girls beat Sharon-Mutual 38-27 and Fort Supply edged Drummond 35-30 in overtime.
In boys games, Timberlake nipped Sharon-Mutual 56-52 and Drummond slipped past Fort Supply 49-45.
Amelia Tyree scored 16 points and Jonna Gregory 10 for the Vici girls. Erica Halley had 11 for Sharon-Mutual.
Tanessa Lowden had 15 points and Megan Owens 8 to pace Fort Supply’s girls.
Stetson Buller had 16 points to lead the Timberlake boys while Sharon-Mutual got 17 from Josh Nielsen and 15 from Cody Cottom.
Michael Woods paced Drummond with 17 points. Dru Woolfolk scored 13 and Brad Lowden 11 for Fort Supply
In a late game from Thursday, Mooreland beat Timberlake 46-44 with Cody Kenny scoring 11 points and Dustin Searcy 10. Buller led Timberlake with 16 points.
