FORT SUPPLY – The host Bulldogs and Fargo traded victories in high school basketball action here Tuesday.
Playing in the school’s old gym for the first time since 1980, the Fort Supply girls beat Fargo 61-54. Fargo won the boys game 50-38.
The Bulldogs are playing in their old gym because the regular one basically collapsed due to a snowstorm last spring. The school district is in the middle of planning and building a new gym.
Meanwhile, the Bulldog girls seemed to adapt well to the new surroundings.
Megan Owens and Tanessa Lowden scored 18 points each and Danielle Logan 17 as Fort Supply evened its record at 1-1. Fargo is also 1-1.
Fort Supply led by as many as 16 points in the fourth period before Fargo closed the gap to 5 late in the game.
Corinna Wadsworth led Fargo with 16 points.
In the boys game, Fargo raised its record to 2-0, outscoring the Bulldogs in every quarter.
Dylan Baker paced the Bearcats with 21 points and Cody Gilchrist scored 11.
Fort Supply got 14 points from Braden Smith and 11 from Brad Lowden.
Vici’s boys improved to 2-0, breaking open a close game against Arnett in the fourth period. A 16-4 edge in the final 8 minutes gave the Indians a 64-51 victory.
Brandon Gregory had 31 points to pace Vici. Tanner Bryant scored 14 for Arnett.
Vici won the girls game 50-20 with eight players in the scoring column. Chesney Watkins led with 10 points. Jordan Wayland had 12 for Arnett.
Gage got 25 points from Kendon Gaines to beat Freedom, 52-41. Cooper Eden and Clay Bebermeyer led the Eagles with 12 points each.
