Fort Supply opens home season

Fort Supply will open its home schedule and try to break into the win column in area basketball action tonight.

The Bulldogs, who are playing in the school’s refurbished old gym after the regular gym was destroyed in a snow storm earlier this spring, host Fargo for 270 Conference games.

In another 270 Conference matchup, Arnett travels to Vici. Other area games have Leedey at Canute, Cheyenne-Reydon at Sentinel, Gage at Freedom and Lone Wolf at Taloga.

Game time at all sites is 6:30 p.m. with the girls game first.

Fort Supply will face a tough challenge on both the girls and boys side. Fargo’s teams opened their seasons with big road wins at Arnett last week.

Fargo’s girls put up 52 points last week with Nicole Coffey, Corinna Wadsworth and Nikki Wadsworth all in double figures.

Fort Supply’s first game was a loss to state power Hammon on Nov. 3.

Despite losing two All-Staters in the past three years the Fargo boys remain a tough opponent. Wes Miller and Dylan Baker combined for 43 points in the win over Arnett.

At Vici, the host Indian teams are gunning for 2-0 starts. Arnett’s teams are looking for victory No. 1.

Vici’s girls have a mix of veterans and freshmen and inconsistency could be a problem early. The Indians, though, also have Jonna Gregory, one of the top players in Class B. Arnett’s girls are led by Caitlyn Landers and Jordan Wayland.

The Vici boys feature a balanced offense and can put up big numbers. Arnett relies on quickness to offset a lack of size inside.
