270 Conference games top slate
The 270 Conference basketball season gets under way tonight with a pair of doubleheaders.
Fargo travels to Arnett and Gage goes to Vici for league action. Gage is the only one of the four teams that played earlier this week.
Also on tap are Sentinel at Hammon and Hydro-Eakly at Arapaho.
Other games of interest include Lomega at Okarche, Erick-Sweetwater at Canute and Burlington at Cimarron.
Game time everywhere is 6:30 p.m. with the girls first.
Fargo’s boys return three starters from a team that reached the area semifinals a year ago and will face an experienced Arnett team.
Both squads have new coaches with Brent Caldwell at Fargo and Jack Brewster at Arnett. Caldwell coached the girls at Fargo last year.
On the girls side traditional power Arnett returns little experience from last season’s area tournament team. Fargo is led by a new coach, Christi Miller.
The Vici girls have made back to back state tournament appearances and would like to make it three in a row. Jonna Gregory and Chesney Watkins are returning starters for coach Travis Templin.
Gage opened its season on Tuesday with a loss to Cheyenne-Reydon.
The Vici boys have two starters back from last year’s 21-8 area tournament team. Gage lost big on opening night.
Both Hammon teams are hoping for 2-0 starts on their home floor, but Sentinel should offer a challenge in both games.
