Woodward, Okla. —
The Boomers open a quick 2-game homestand tonight against the Weatherford Eagles.
Tip off time for the girls game is 6:30 p.m. with the boys following at 8 p.m.
On Friday, Woodward will host Anadarko in the final home game until Feb. 2.
To say it could be a challenging night for Woodward’s girls is an understatement.
Weatherford comes in ranked 4th in Class 4A and sports a 12-0 record.
Only 2 of Weatherford’s games have been decided by single digits and one was a 42-38 win over Mount Saint Mary on Saturday in the finals of the Lindsay Tournament. The Boomers are 2-8 and coming off a win over Clinton a week ago.
Weatherford won the first meeting 64-23.
On the boys side, the Boomers (5-5) will try to go climb above the .500 mark against a team they handled 50-30 in December.
Weatherford is 5-7 and has wins oer Elk City and Altus.
The area schedule tonight includes Alva at Newkirk, Arnett at Hammon, Turpin at Beaver, Canton at Sharon-Mutual, Fairview at Seiling, Fargo at Forgan, Laverne at Fort Supply, Aline-Cleo at Mooreland, Cherokee at Waynoka and Shattuck at Vici.
The big game is the boys matchup in Forgan where the Bulldogs, ranked No. 1 in Class B, will face a test from the Fargo Bearcats, ranked 4th.
