Woodward, Okla. —
The Boomers put a 2-game winning streak on the line tonight as they host Weatherford.
Game time for the District 4A-1 football contest is 7:30 p.m. at Boomer Stadium.
It is White Out Night at Boomer Stadium with fans asked to wear white.
Woodward has won 2 straight including a 28-7 verdict in the district opener against Piedmont last week that also evened their season mark.
Weatherford comes in at 1-3 with 2 of the losses coming to top-5 teams - McGuinness in Class 5A and Clinton in Class 4A.
The Eagles are 0-1 in the district.
Last season the Eagles won a crazy 8-4 contest that the Boomers dominated. Woodward, though, was unable to find a way into the end zone.
The last 2 weeks that hasn’t been an issue as the Boomers have put up 28 points in back-to-back outings with a balanced attack.
Against Piedmont, the Boomers used their power running game to dominate the Wildcats in the second half.
In addition, the Boomers didn’t turn the ball over and their defense shut down big plays.
Other district matchups tonight have Anadarko at Elk City, Elgin at Clinton and Piedmont at Cache.
The Elgin-Clinton matchup is the only one between 1-0 teams in the district. Piedmont and Cache are both going for their first league wins and Elk City faces an Anadarko team that is undefeated.
The area schedule tonight includes:
District A-1
Mooreland at Texhoma
Okeene at Hooker
Oklahoma Bible at Beaver
Fairview at Turpin
District B-1
Medford at Laverne
Garber at Seiling
Canton at Merritt
District C-1
Shattuck at Tyrone
Boise City at Sharon-Mutual
Waynoka at Goodwell
Buffalo at Balko
Game time everywhere is 7:30 p.m.
In District A-1, the feature matchup is in Texhoma where 2 undefeated teams battle.
Mooreland has impressed through the initial 4 weeks of the season with a solid running attack and some big plays in the passing game.
The Bearcats wore down Oklahoma Bible a week ago, dominating much of the second half.
Texhoma has been equally impressive rolling over 3 opponents while averaging over 50 points a game on offense.
Jack Powers and Bryson Beattie headline the offense.
Fairview takes its 4-0 record west to face the Hooker Bulldogs. Both teams were easy winners a week ago.
Hooker is 3-1.
In District B-1, top-ranked Laverne is a big favorite to reach the halfway point of the regular season undefeated.
The Tigers are averaging nearly 60 points a game behind an offense led by Tucker Rolf and Trevor Harris.
A lot of points could go on the board in Seiling where the Wildcats host Garber. Seiling scored 90 points in a game against Waukomis last week while Garber is averaging over 50 points per outing.
Buffalo and Balko will square off at Kramer Field to see who stays tied with Forgan for first place in District C-1.
Buffalo is 3-0 in district games while Balko is 2-0. Both teams are 3-1 overall.
Shattuck will try to get back in the playoff picture against Tyrone. Both teams have lost their last 2 games.
Sharon-Mutual hosts a Goodwell team that has scored just 16 points this season while giving up 170.
