NEWCASTLE - The Boomers won the consolation championship in the Newcastle Tournament on Saturday.
Woodward, 8-9, led by as many as 23 points in the first half on the way to a 48-34 win over the host Racers.
Ty Richey (14), Taylan Iliff (13) and Garrett Owen (11) all scored in double figures for the Boomers, who won their second game in a row.
In the girls game, the Boomers started fast against Blanchard and took a 15-10 lead after one quarter.
Blanchard, though, came back to lead 25-17 at halftime and went on to a 43-31 victory.
Hillary Hurst led Woodward with 13 points.
Woodward finished sixth in the tournament and saw its record fall to 3-14.
The Woodward teams will continue their road trip on Tuesday as they travel to Enid.
Earlier this year, Woodward’s boys routed Enid 66-46 while the girls lost a 60-53 decision to the Pacers.
After that, the Boomers will be home for 3 of their final 4 regular season games, hosting Clinton, Elgin and Elk City. The only road game in the home stretch is at Altus.

In the Buffalo Tournament on Saturday, Forgan and Shattuck wrapped up championships.
The top-ranked Forgan boys trailed No. 2 Fargo midway through the third period, then blew past the Bearcats to win 65-47.
The Bulldogs scored 28 points in the third period to take a 49-38 lead and pulled away in the fourth quarter.
Tournament MVP Jake Regier led Forgan with 29 points. Tyler Foale had 23 for Fargo.
Shattuck's girls defeated Forgan 71-61 in the girls title game.
It was Shattuck's fourth win over the Bulldogs this season.
Daniela Galindo, the tournament's MVP, scored 29 points and Katelyn Cummings had 15.
Kenzie Taylor led Forgan with 30 points.
