Tigers, Indians post victories

Top-ranked Shattuck (Class C) and second-ranked Laverne (Class B) rolled to easy wins on Friday.

Shattuck built a 34-0 lead and defeated Boise City 48-24 while Laverne dispatched Pond Creek-Hunter 62-12.

At Shattuck, Aaron McCandless and Brent Starbuck scored three touchdowns each as the Indians won their 85th game in a row.

McCandless had runs of 74, 48 and 78 yards while Starbuck scored on runs of 3, 12 and 24 yards.

Clinton Christian scored twice for Boise City, now 1-1.

Shattuck had 491 yards rushing.

It was the district opener for both schools.

Laverne scored 30 points in the third period to bury Pond Creek-Hunter.

The Tigers built a 26-6 halftime lead and overpowered the Panthers in the third period.

Jack Taylor ran for five touchdowns and threw a pass for another to pace the Tigers. Hesston Landess caught the touchdown pass.

J. R. Halliburton returned an interception for a score and Jesus Garcia also had an interception return. Kale Crocker had the other Tiger touchdown.

Forgan evened its season record with a 48-0 win over Balko.

Rhett Radcliff and Miguel Ordonez each scored three times for the Bulldogs.
