Woodward native Joey Miller won her second consecutive Women's College Wrestling Association national championship in Bristol, Tenn. on Saturday.
Miller, a 4-time All-American at Oklahoma City University, defeated Jacarra Winchester of Missouri Valley 0-1, 3-1, 3-1 in the national championship match. She defeated Kayla Brendlinger of King, Tenn., 0-6, 2-1, 5-0 in the semifinals.
In her OCU career, Miller owns the Stars career record with 72 falls and has a career mark of 127-27 including a school record 42 victories as a junior. She finished second nationally as a freshman and third as a sophomore before winning the last 2 championships.
Miller was a 2-time state qualifier and a state medalist at Woodward High School - the first female wrestler to qualify for and medal in the Oklahoma State High School Championships.
