Woodward's boys turned back a determined Weatherford Eagle team for a 54-47 Western Conference basketball victory at Boomer Fieldhouse on Tuesday.
In the girls game, 4th ranked Weatherford raised its record to 13-0 with a 66-29 win over the Boomers.
Earlier in the year, the Boomers handled Weatherford pretty easily on the road, but the rematch was a battle from the start.
Weatherford led 7-6 after one quarter and it was tied 17-17 at the half.
The Eagles still led 32-31 until the final minute of the third period when three-pointers by Trevor Collier and Taylan Iliff gave the Boomers the lead for good 37-32.
Weatherford didn't get closer than 3 in the fourth period, but the Boomers weren't able to pull away either with their largest lead 8 points.
Ty Richey carried the Boomers in the fourth period, scoring 11 of his game-high 19 points.
Collier and Kaleb Roach both hit a pair of free throws to seal the win in the final 30 seconds.
Iliff finished with 8 points, Collier had 7 and Micha Kee, Roach and Garrett Owen all scored 6.
The win lifted the Boomers to 6-5 on the season while Weatherford fell to 5-8.
For Weatherford, Cooper Morlan and Jason Nichols each scored 11.
The girls game was all Eagles from the start as they jumped out to leads of 17-2 after one quarter and 32-7 at halftime.
Chandler Roof led the Eagles with 20 points and Riley Torrey scored 17.
Woodward got 10 points from Mercedeez Bell.
The Boomers are 2-9 on the year.
Woodward hosts Anadarko on Friday, then travels to Cache on Saturday.
