Woodward, Okla. —
ENID – With a stunning 7th inning rally, the Traveler Majors knocked the Enid Majors out of the Connie Mack State Tournament on Saturday night.
Clayton Stoup’s one-out bases-loaded single scored Leno Ramirez with the winning run as the Traveler plated 5 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 5-4 victory.
Enid cruised into the bottom of the final frame with a 4-0 lead, but Dustin Cook, Dillon Langston and Hayden Simmons all singled, with Cook scoring, to chase Enid starter Lawson King.
Brad Kinsey relieved and hit Francisco Alvarez to load the bases. He then walked Ramirez to force in a run. Cole Floyd relieved and Aaron McCandless hit a sacrifice fly to score Simmons. Mason Marshall walked to load the bases again and Alvarez raced in on a wild pitch to tie the game. Cody Hunter was walked intentionally to load the bases and set up a force, but Stoup ripped the game-winning hit.
Ramirez was the winning pitcher in relief of Dillon Langston.
Woodward, 37-17, will play today at 1 p.m. in the final round against the Cleveland County Shockers. The Shockers defeated Sandlot late Saturday night, 1-0.
Sandlot will await the winner of the 1 p.m. game in the 6 p.m. championship contest.
On Friday, the Travelers defeated their Minors team 13-3 on the strength of a 9-run first inning. Ramirez and Alvarez each drove in 3 runs and Stoup and Marshall had 2 RBI. Bryce Clemons got the win.
