Travelers win in Pueblo
PUEBLO, Colo. - The Travelers opened play in the Pueblo Tournament of Champions with a 7-4 win over Farmington, N. M. on Friday night.
Woodward opened a 7-0 lead, then turned away a Farmington rally in the seventh. The Travelers are 26-17 on the season and play twice today, against Pueblo Loaf and Jug and a team from Puerto Rico.
Chance Beck went five innings for the win against Farmington. Jonathan Johnson and Austin Beisel threw the final two frames. Beck allowed just two hits and struck out three.
Woodward took control of the game with a two-run fourth inning as Levi Lewis doubled home Dylan Weber,then scored on a Tyler Overton hit.
Ryne Dunlavy had three hits to pace the Travelers while Weber and Matt McDonald had two hits hits each. Trevor Long also drove in a run with a hit.

ELK CITY – The Traveler Minors are 2-1 through two days of the Elk City Tournament.
Woodward beat Burkburnett Red 16-5 and Elk City Blue 1-0 on Thursday, but fell 8-0 to Burkburnett Black on Friday.
The Travelers play the Midwest Wolverines today at 11:45 a.m. with a win probably putting them in Sunday’s championship round.
Against Burkburnett Red, Trevor Julian was the winning pitcher. Braden Todd had a home run and double and Codee McElroy belted three doubles.
Shawn Hunter pitched a two-hitter and struck out 13 in the win over Elk City. Braden Hunt tripled and scored Woodward’s only run in the fifth inning.
In Friday’s game, the Travelers got a leadoff double from Todd and nothing else against the Burkburnett pitcher.
