Woodward, Okla. — Rose Marie McKee, 83, of Edmond and formerly of the area, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in Oklahoma City.  Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 in the Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend Jeremy Skaggs officiating.  Burial will follow under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

 

Rose Marie McKee was born Rose Marie Stephans March 23, 1929 to Lura Ingle Stephans and George John Stephans in Winfield, Kansas.  She spent her young years in Winfield before she moved to Fargo, Oklahoma where she graduated in 1947 as Valedictorian of her class.  In 1947, she was united in marriage with Floyd Brown.  Two daughters were born to them.

 

Rose Marie was a housewife in her early years, but found she had a talent for business as she made decorative Memorial Day wreaths and opened a consignment clothing store in her home.  She worked at the Newman Memorial Hospital and was encouraged to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.  After attaining this license she worked at the Newman Memorial Hospital on the floor and then in surgery.  Her attention to detail and demand for perfection made her a superior surgery nurse.

 

In 1968 her husband, Floyd Brown passed away.  Rose Marie being an independent type went on working and raising her children.

 

In September of 1971 Rose Marie married James J. McKee of Bufffao, Oklahoma.  They blended their families and spent the next 38 years together until Jack passed away in November of 2009.

 

Loved ones who remain to honor her are her two daughters and their families: Stephanie Brown Craighead and Clair Craighead of Woodward, Nancy Brown French and Doyal French of Edmond.  Children of her union with Jack McKee are Robert McKee and Cindy McKee of Annandale, New Jersey, Jane Witten of Barling, Arkansas, and Nancy and Jim Wiginton of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.

 

Rose Marie had 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  We all will miss her, Rose Marie had many friends that she honored and enjoyed.

    Jan R. Brown passed from this earthly life to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 20th, after a short illness. He was born on June 21, 1939 in El Reno OK. Jan and his wife of 56 years have enjoyed the last 20 years of semi-retirement in Hot Springs Village AR. Many great memories have been created for family and friends in this beautiful golfing community.

As a child Lana lived on the farm near Webb, Oklahoma and attended Taloga High School graduating with the class of 1983.

    Lloyd Lorn Elston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born September 24, 1919 to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Elston west of Laverne, Oklahoma in Beaver County. He was the 12th child out of 13 and the youngest boy in the family.

    Jo Ann Keltch, 68 year old Sharon resident, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday,  May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
