Woodward, Okla. — OKLAHOMA CITY

LaVerna Edith Johnson, 77, passed away Jan 30, 2013. 

She was born in Kay Co., OK to Ray Clarence and Goldie Edith (Vaughn) Rollins.

LaVerna worked as an LPN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edzel W. Johnson, sisters Agatha and Norma, brother David, and Stepson Gary. 

She is survived by her son Richard Johnson and wife Kelly, daughter Dorothy Smith and husband Robert, brothers Lester and Owen Rollins, sisters Donna Lesemann and Linda Reese, grandchildren: Quinn Johnson, Steven Smith, Kenny Smith, Robby Smith, and Charlie Potter, and numerous other loved ones. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Ponca City, 900 W. Prospect, Ponca City, OK 74601.

A graveside burial of ashes will be 10:30 AM Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City, OK.  A meal will be provided following the service at 12:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Newkirk at 9th & Walnut.

    Leona Austin, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home south of Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home

  • Karl Platte Karl Wayne Platte

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

    Lamont Munsell, 92 year old Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the Mooreland Heritage Manor.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Mooreland.  Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Mooreland.
