Woodward, Okla. —
Joanne Rae Watson, 62, of Higgins, TX, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, November 29, 2012 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. The funeral will be held at the United Methodist Church in Higgins, TX, Sunday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Jon Nichols and Curtis Bentley. Arrangements have been made by Mason Funeral Home in Shattuck, OK.
Joanne was born May 21, 1950 to Raymond and Jean Weis in Higgins, TX, where she enjoyed the life of a ranching family. After graduating from Higgins High School she attended Texas Tech University, during which time she met and married Deane Booker, a captain in the United States Air Force. Her husband was stationed in Tempe, AZ, and Joanne graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University before they returned to Higgins to pursue ranching together.
While living in Higgins she held various jobs, which included writing for the Lipscomb Limelight newspaper, running a dry goods store with her mother, and teaching math in Gage, Canadian, and Higgins. She was a dedicated and loving teacher, who influenced and touched the lives of a countless number of students.
She then married Glenn Watson in 1994.
She was very active in the Higgins Methodist Church, and one of her greatest joys was starting the youth group there.
She enjoyed walking, quilting, playing the piano, and staying active in many various roles within the community.
Joanne was a devout Christian who had a generous and loving spirit. Her love of people gave her joy every day.
She was known as Mumsy and Gigi to her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Weis.
Survivors include her mother, Jean Weis of Higgins, TX; her husband, Glenn Watson of Higgins, TX; her son, Jeremy Booker and wife Carolyn of Keller, TX; her son, Jared Booker and wife Jennifer, of Midland, TX; her son, Joel Booker, of Colombia, South America; her daughter, Jeana Lantiere and husband Alex of Higgins, TX; her stepson, Jason Watson and wife Carla, of Higgins, TX; her sister, Cary Nell Huff and husband Richard of Shawnee, OK; her sister, Nannette Ashley and husband Russell of Amarillo, TX; a special cousin, Eric Bergquist of Higgins, TX; seven grandchildren; four nephews; and one niece.
Memorials may be made to the Higgins Helping Hand Fund of the Higgins Methodist Church and Canadian Hospice Care.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Higgins, Texas with the Reverend Curtis Bentley and Pastor John Nichols officiating. Pianist for the service is Linda Nicholson, organist is Donna Jenkins and Bob and Betty Bynum will be singing a duet of “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns are “Lord I Want To Be A Christian” and “It Is Morning In My Heart.” Pallbearers are Gary Laubhan, Paul Landers, Clifford Schwab, Willis Smith, Duane Jenkins and Ronnie Walker. Honorary casket bearer is Donnie Johnson. Interment followed the service at the Higgins Cemetery in Higgins, Texas. LaRoy “Chuck” Vernon Bailey, 74 year old rural Fargo resident, was born March 26, 1939 at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Loys and Margretha (Toellner) Bailey. He attended school at Fargo, graduating with the “Class of 1959”. After graduating High School he went to mechanics school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he completed the certification requirements to be an auto mechanic.

She attended Camargo Schools, and graduated with the class of 1951. She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.

R.A. Lotspeich
R.A. Lotspeich, 81 year old Rosston, Oklahoma, farmer and rancher passed away Friday, May 3, 2013. The only son of Kenney and Osie Lotspeich, R.A. was born March 24, 1932, graduated Rosston High School 1949, and Oklahoma A & M in 1954 with a degree in agriculture. During his college career, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and the college rodeo team, excelling in bull riding. Having been an ROTC cadet at Oklahoma A & M, R.A. went on to serve as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army for two years and was honorably discharged in 1955.
