Joyce Steinert, 69 year old Fargo resident, departed this life Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at her mothers home in Fargo. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Fargo Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Kayleen Joyce Steinert was born the first of twin daughters on December 31, 1940 at the Woodward Hospital in Woodward, Oklahoma to Floyd H. and Dorothy C. (Hohweiler) Steinert. She attended Fargo Elementary and high school, graduating from Fargo High School in 1959. After attending one year at Oklahoma City University, she married Garry L. Penix on May 28, 1960. To this union she bore one daughter and one son. The family moved from Oklahoma City to Arlington, Virginia in 1965 where Joyce was employed by the Arlington County Police Department for eleven years and then by the Arlington County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for two years. Joyce returned to Fargo in August of 1982 and married Fargo Police Chief, Shephen C. Wade. In 1993 Joyce joined the staff of the Ellis County Sheriff’s office as a Deputy Sheriff where she remained until her retirement.
In death she was preceded by her father, her brother, Floyd William and one sister, Marilyn Janet Bailey.
She is survived by her mother, her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Buckler and husband Jeff of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her son, Anthony Lee Penix of Fargo; one sister, Karen Sue Herbert and husband Chester of Yukon; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew and a host of other relatives and friends.
To her descendants she leaves the family ancestral records she compiled in the later years of her life in the hope they will find as much pleasure in having them as she enjoyed gathering them.
A member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she departed this life secure in the knowledge that what or Who created Death, created all things and is the only mystery.
