Woodward, Okla. —
Leo C. “Pacy” Long, 75 year old May resident, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 in the Gage School Auditorium. Burial will follow in the May Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Billings Funeral Home on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Leo Carlile Long was born on March 8, 1937 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Carl and Maude Marie (Sunderland) Long. Leo who was known as “Pacy” to his many friends grew up on the family farm 6 ? miles south of May on the land that he still resides on today. Leo attended school in May and graduated from May High School in 1955. After his graduation he went to work for his uncle in Medford at his machine shop. He was united in marriage to Patricia Lou Tarrant on May 18, 1957 in the United Methodist Church in May, Oklahoma. They made their first home in the old café building in May that his parents owned. He worked for one year at an auto dealership in Buffalo. He spent the remainder of his life farming and ranching and ran a dairy farm for 18 years.
He was a member of the Church of God Holiness in May. He enjoyed fishing at his pond, his church, cattle, farming and traveling. Leo loved spending time with his family, especially making noodles with his granddaughters at the holidays. He always loved family get together’s, teasing the kids and talking to his friends.
He is survived by his wife Patty Long of the home; four sons, Lyle Long and special friend Deone, Rick Long and a special friend Stacy, Troy Long and wife Kelly, Casey Long; one brother Bob Long and wife Loretta of May and their daughter Pam and Terry Wells; two sisters, Aldene Burgess and husband J.D. of Ft. Supply, Twyla Simon of Del City; 17 grandchildren, Brandie and Karl Platte, Trent Long, Shelley and Kalie Long, Travis Long, Trey and Whitney Long, Trevor Long, Tori and Cody Jessup, Sadi Long, Brock Long, Samuel Long, Daniel Long, Hannah Long, Nathaniel Long, Andrew Carl Long, Eric Long, Aaron Long; six great-grandchildren, Karlie, Madison, Hunter, Rylie, Jocelyn, Jaydayne; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives scattered all over the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maude and Carl Long, sister and brother-in-law Lucille and Darwin Wingo, brother Clifton Long, nephew David Long, brother-in-law Roland Simon, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leo and Pearle Tarrant, sister-in-law Donna, brother-in-law Dave Nelson and special nephews Bill Wingo and Mark Wingo.
