Margaret Clarice (Stuart) Keeney

Woodward, Okla. — Margaret Clarice (Stuart) Keeney passed away October 8, 2012.  Margaret was born May 20, 1929 in Laverne, Oklahoma to Jim and Gwendylon Stuart.  Margaret graduated from Laverne High School in 1947, she attended Oklahoma State A & M where she met Melvin, as his piano accompanist, she graduated in 1951 with honors.  Keeping the promise to her mother that she would not get married until after she graduated from college, following an afternoon graduation ceremony Margaret & Mel rushed back to Laverne for their rehearsal dinner and were married the next day, January 27, 1951.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother she never missed a game, contest or recital that involved any member of her family.  Margaret was passionate about two things, her church family and Oklahoma State University.  She loved putting on her orange and black and going to football and basketball games with her husband.  Margaret was an accomplished musician, she played the piano for many weddings and funerals, she also accompanied many students during music contests and she loved playing for her husband when he sang.  During the years the family lived in Beaver, she was the organist at the Methodist Church.   Margaret was a past board member of the First United Methodist Church, a member and past president of U.M.W.  She was a member of the Preaila Circle Magnet as well as a member and past president of P.E.O.   Chapter AL.

The one thing Margaret’s grandchildren loved most about her was her quick witt and sense of humor.  Above all Margaret was always a lady in every sense of the word and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Melvin.  She leaves behind her children:  Kathryne Hughes, Jim and his wife Ava, and Jennifer Keeney.  Grandchildren:  Austin Keeney and his wife Callie, Erin Keeney, Tyler Hughes and his wife Amanda, Stuart Otis and wife Kimberly, and Emily Otis.  Two great-grandchildren Adain and Wyatt Otis and a great grandson to arrive shortly, Casen Keeney.

It gives the family great comfort to know Margaret is now walking hand in hand with her beloved Melvin in heaven, GO POKES!
