Mildred Bernice Stenglemeir

Woodward, Okla. — Mildred Bernice Stenglemeir , 91 year old resident of Alva and former Woodward resident, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Beadles Nursing Home in Alva.   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward.   Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

 

Mildred Bernice (Garten) Stenglemeir was born November 12, 1920 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Fred and Victoria (Wright) Garten.  She attended and graduated from Woodward High School.  She met and married Walter George Stenglemeir on November 16, 1939 in Buffalo, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Woodward and they were blessed with two daughters, Pat and Judy.

 

Mildred worked at Tregos Western Wear, Moynihan Plumbing as a bookkeeper and retired from the Bank of Woodward after many years.

 

Mildred was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed volunteer work.  She enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Her hobbies included needle work, sewing, crafting and she was a very good cook. She was a very kind and considerate lady and she never failed to lend a helping hand.

 

Mildred is survived by her daughter Pat Russell of Norman;. Four grandchildren Shelly Battisti and husband Bob of Oklahoma City; Kellie Thiesing and husband Kelly of Alva; Rick Love and wife Darlene of Woodward; Kevin Caldwell and wife Ashley of Woodward; great- grandchildren Tisha Shipley, Ft. Smith, Arkansas: Levi and Chelsey Shipley of Alva; Cooper Battisti of Oklahoma City; April Thiesing of Enid; Ashley and Mark Molinyawe of Nashville, Tennesee; Stephanie Love of Santa Monica, California: Tori, Jacob and Nathaniel Caldwell of Woodward;. great-great grandchildren include Kash Shipley of Woodward; Jensen Hurt of Alva; Colton Fulgium of Enid; Braxton Busbee of Woodward;  other relatives and a host of friends

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Harold Garten, a daughter Judy Caldwell in 2010 and husband Walter Stenglemeir in 2005.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

    Jan R. Brown passed from this earthly life to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 20th, after a short illness. He was born on June 21, 1939 in El Reno OK. Jan and his wife of 56 years have enjoyed the last 20 years of semi-retirement in Hot Springs Village AR. Many great memories have been created for family and friends in this beautiful golfing community.

As a child Lana lived on the farm near Webb, Oklahoma and attended Taloga High School graduating with the class of 1983.

    Lloyd Lorn Elston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born September 24, 1919 to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Elston west of Laverne, Oklahoma in Beaver County. He was the 12th child out of 13 and the youngest boy in the family.
