Linda Young

Woodward, Okla. — Linda Young went to be with her Heavenly Father October 16, 2012 surrounded by loved ones.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am  Monday, October 22, 2012 in the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Tony Barros officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.



Linda Jane (Walker) Young was born November 5, 1951 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Lloyd Keith and Sarah Pauline (Bowman) Walker.  She attended Greenfield Public Schools for 11 years and graduated from Watonga High School in 1970.  She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. 

Linda was married 37 years to her soul mate, Tommy Ray Young on July 31, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  They made their home in Watonga, Oklahoma for four years before moving to their current home in Woodward, where they have resided for the past 33 years.  Linda and Tommy worked and played side by side operating their cattle and oil business, fishing, quail hunting, golfing and going to horse races.

Linda adored her large family and cooking holiday meals for everyone.  She believed in the tradition of sending each family member birthday cards.  “MaLinda”, as her grandchildren called her, made Christmas special with her scavenger hunts, the green pickle ornament hunt, and the amazing talent of finding the perfect gift for everyone.  Linda always wore mums with her grandson’s name on it to all their homecoming football games.  Her beloved nieces and nephews eagerly anticipated Aunt Linda’s Easter pinatas’ at their annual Easter picnics and the unique and different gifts she would come up with.

Linda was member of the First Baptist Church of Woodward.  She was also former President of PEO, Gamma Club of Woodward, and Northwest Cattlewomen’s Association from which many lasting friendships were made.

Linda is survived by her husband Tommy of the home; three sons, Mike Young and wife Melody, Greg Young and wife Lorinda, Steve Young all of Woodward; two daughters, Beverly Garman of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kathy Young of Oklahoma City; brother, Doug Walker and wife Jan of Greenfield;  two sisters, Patty Neely and husband David of Woodward, Sandra Perkins and husband Keith of Duncan; grandchildren Melissa Scandariato and husband Brian of Austin, Texas, Michelle Garman of Austin, Texas, Heather Garman and Nicole Garman both of Houston, Texas, Chris Young and wife Kelly of Weatherford, Vince Young and wife Lindsey of Blanchard, Tyson Young and wife Laura of Tahlequah, Lake Young and Tanner Young both of Woodward; nine great-grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews, 22 great nieces and nephews, one great-great niece, one great-great nephew; and brother-in-law, George Young.  Linda loved her dogs, Chauncey and Sterling, and considered them part of the family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Pauline Walker, mother-in-law Fern Young, and son-in-law Gerald Garman.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Woodward or a charity of choice with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

As a child Lana lived on the farm near Webb, Oklahoma and attended Taloga High School graduating with the class of 1983.

    Lloyd Lorn Elston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born September 24, 1919 to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Elston west of Laverne, Oklahoma in Beaver County. He was the 12th child out of 13 and the youngest boy in the family.

    Jo Ann Keltch, 68 year old Sharon resident, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday,  May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

    LaRoy “Chuck” Vernon Bailey, 74 year old rural Fargo resident, was born March 26, 1939 at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Loys and Margretha (Toellner) Bailey. He attended school at Fargo, graduating with the “Class of 1959”. After graduating High School he went to mechanics school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he completed the certification requirements to be an auto mechanic.

    Mary Ann Hunt Berry was born in Camargo, OK on Aug. 24, 1933 to Anna Mildred Blair Hunt and Herman Edward Hunt.  She was one of ten children.  She departed this life on April 30, 2013.   She attended Camargo Schools, and graduated with the class of 1951.  She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
