Woodward, Okla. —
Larry D. Wafford, 72 year old Woodward resident, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at his home in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 at The Lodge at Lake Marvin in Canadian, Texas. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.
Larry DeWayne Wafford was born on June 3, 1938 in Empire, Oregon to Clarence Emery and Rose Toleta (Milburn) Wafford. Larry was reared in Pana, Illinois and was inducted into the United States Navy on June 13, 1955. He served his country until being discharged on June 12, 1963. He was united in marriage to Sandra Diane Budds on February 29, 1964 in Pana, Illinois. They made their home in Pana until moving to Canadian, Texas in 1976. Larry worked in the oilfield in construction and as a truck driver. After his retirement, he moved to Woodward, Oklahoma in 1996. Larry was united in marriage to Dolores Aileen Moter on July 31, 1999 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and have lived there since that time.
Larry loved watching NASCAR, fishing, playing dominoes, and always enjoyed having coffee with his friends and family at the Silver Spur Café. Larry really loved mushroom hunting while he lived in Ilinois. He loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed by all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Wafford of the home in Woodward, Oklahoma; son, Steve Wafford and wife Calli of Canadian, Texas; daughters, Leah Sumner and husband Scott of Ozark, Missouri, Nicole Reese and husband Steven of New Braunfels, Texas; step-son, Chuck Moter and wife Amy of St. Johns, Arizona; step-daughters, Jewell Searcy and husband Leland of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Sharon Day and husband Shaun of Tyler, Texas, Tamatha Tomsic and husband Cory of Artesia, New Mexico; one brother, Clarence "Cork" Wafford of Pana, Illinois; one sister, Jeanne Sutton of Canadian, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ron Wafford, his first wife Sandra Wafford and a step-daughter, Cheryl Stewart.
