Woodward, Okla. — Bill Gillenwaters, 78 of Kerrick, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013.

Services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Stratford with Interim Minister Jim Smith officiating, and assisted by James Gillenwaters. Interment will follow at Stratford Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors.

Viewing will be on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 12 noon to 8 p.m.; and Friday, March 8th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Bill was born to Thurma Ione Stickley and James Virgil Gillenwaters in Harper County, (Buffalo) Oklahoma on December 21, 1934.

He married Donna Clarice Boise on May 29, 1954 in Buffalo, OK.

Bill and Donna moved to Stratford in 1968. Bill worked for Pronger Brothers, Walter Lasley, and Cimarron Feeders and was an order buyer for Wright Cattle Company of Amarillo, TX. He was a rancher.

He was a member of the American Legion, Texas Cattle Feeders and Oklahoma Cattle Association, Board of Directors at A&I. He was a lifelong supporter of 4-H. Bill and Donna were members of the United Methodist Church.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and like to fish, play cards and have fellowship with friends and family. His family stated he loved caring for his cattle.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Nina Jean Gillenwaters, Betty Iona Gaston and Vera Mae Price.

Bill is survived by his wife Donna of the home; two sons Duane Lee Gillenwaters and wife Stephanie of Mooreland, OK; James Gillenwaters of Bushland, TX, sister Leota Arlene Campbell and brother Jerry Eugene Gillenwaters. Five grandchildren; Jacy Donn Gillenwaters, Dasan Brody Gillenwaters and Tala Bly Gillenwaters all of Moreland, Ok. Kylee Elizabeth Gillenwaters and Kaiden James Gillenwaters of Bushland, TX.

Memorials may be made to Sherman County 4-H, Murdock School Building Fund and United Methodist Church Fund-Stratford

    Leona Austin, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home south of Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
