Edwin Allen McMurphy

Woodward, Okla. — Edwin Allen McMurphy, known as Bud to many, was born November 13, 1936 in Alva, Oklahoma to M.E. and Vera (Butler) McMurphy.  He passed from this life on December 18, 2012 in Woodward, Oklahoma at the age of 76. 

Ed spent all of his younger years in the Alva community and attended Alva Schools graduating with the class of 1955.   After high school Ed joined the Oklahoma National Guard.  On March 28, 1959 Ed and Jane Neiman were united in marriage at the Cedar Grove Methodist Church.  This marriage was blessed with four children, Monty Allen, Ann Marie, Mari Lou and Tina “Kathleen”.   Ed and Jane lived in Alva until 1968 when they moved to Woodward, OK.  They remained in Woodward until 1983 when they moved to their current house just north of Sharon, OK.  In 2011 Ed moved to the Vici Nursing Center.  Ed worked his whole life as a carpenter; he also enjoyed refurnishing old furniture.   He was a scout leader, and received the award of Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow.  Ed enjoyed the outdoors. He loved going to the mountains and taking his kids boating at the lake.  He also enjoyed photography and riding his motorcycle. Ed is preceded in death by his parents M.E. and Vera McMurphy; daughter Kathleen Smith and infant daughter Ann Marie; two sisters, Fern Bindrum and Donna Faye Parker and two brother-in-laws, Francis Parker and James Dickey.  Those left to cherish his memories are wife, Jane McMurphy; son, Monty McMurphy and wife Melisa of Sharon, OK; daughter, Mari Lou Lawrence of Sayre, OK; son-in-law Darrell Smith of Fargo, OK; three grandsons,  Chris Lawrence of Red Oak, OK, Jon Lawrence and wife Lindsey of Elk City, OK and Martyn McMurphy and wife Elizabeth of Guymon, OK; three granddaughters, Melia Wheeler and husband Kelly of Woodward, OK, Megan Reese and husband Kiel of Oceanside, CA and Ashlee Reynolds and husband Justin of Elk City, OK; three great grand kids, Kip, Ali and Kaylen; sister, Lois Dickey of Alva, OK; brothers-in-law, Dennis Nieman and wife Lavona, Charles Nieman and wife Yvonne, Clifford Nieman and wife Lauresta;  many nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.

Memorial Services were held on Friday December 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sharon, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family and Memorial Tribute viewed at shawfuneralhome.net

    WILLIS E. "BUD" ROBINSON, 81 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his home in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Elmwood Cemetery. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Lana Jean Ramsey, 46 year old Vici resident, passed from this life Thursday, May 9, 2013. Lana was born on October 20, 1966 in Alva, Oklahoma to Lance and Mona Jean Stephenson. As a child Lana lived on the farm near Webb, Oklahoma and attended Taloga High School graduating with the class of 1983.

    Lloyd Lorn Elston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born September 24, 1919 to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Elston west of Laverne, Oklahoma in Beaver County. He was the 12th child out of 13 and the youngest boy in the family.

    Jo Ann Keltch, 68 year old Sharon resident, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday,  May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Shane Rackley officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward.

    LaRoy “Chuck” Vernon Bailey, 74 year old rural Fargo resident, was born March 26, 1939 at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Loys and Margretha (Toellner) Bailey. He attended school at Fargo, graduating with the “Class of 1959”. After graduating High School he went to mechanics school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he completed the certification requirements to be an auto mechanic.

    Mary Ann Hunt Berry was born in Camargo, OK on Aug. 24, 1933 to Anna Mildred Blair Hunt and Herman Edward Hunt.  She was one of ten children.  She departed this life on April 30, 2013.   She attended Camargo Schools, and graduated with the class of 1951.  She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
