Woodward, Okla. — Valerie Haynes, 26 of Guthrie, formerly of Woodward, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City after a short illness.  A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward.  A private family burial will be held at a later time.

 

Valerie Sealey Haynes was born on May 29, 1986 in Shattuck, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Woodward High School in 2005.  She loved sports and played softball, tennis and was a football manager for 4 years.  Valerie was one of a kind and such a special person.  She loved the OSU Cowboys just like her mom and the Oklahoma City Thunder.  She knew football inside and out and loved Friday nights and College Games Days.  Valerie loved her music and it was a big variety!!!  She loved going to concerts with her mom, dad, sister and friends.  She loved to study Psychology and loved watching CNN News and always knew what was going on!

 

She is survived by her mom and dad, Tom and Terri Haynes of Guthrie, formerly of Woodward; her sister, Courtney Haynes, Val’s fiancee, Ryan Phariss, her Grandma Sherrie Davis, aunts Bennita Smith and Mary Davis, aunts and uncles, Mark and Patti Haynes, Pat and Lail Haynes, cousins, Ben Smith, Mitchel and Brad Haynes and their families, and Abby, Winston and Lexi Haynes; other relatives and many close friends.

 

She will be forever missed and remembered for the spit fire that she was!  Through this tragedy Valerie was able to donate many of her organs, several of which have already been matched to recipients.  She was able to give the gift of life!!

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial fund in memory of Valerie, with the Billings Funeral Home, 1621 Downs Avenue, Woodward, OK. 73801, accepting the contributions.

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
