Woodward, Okla. —
Graveside service for Darlena “Dawn” Valentine, 80, Geronimo, will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Highland Cemetery with Rev. David Woods, Pastor, Glory Bound Church, Marlow, officiating.
Mrs. Valentine died Sunday in Oklahoma City.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
She was born May 19, 1930 in Laverne, Oklahoma, to Frank and Marie (Close) Shuman. During the “Great Depression” she moved with her family to Colorado and later would return to Laverne where she attended school. She married Luke Valentine on March 6, 1949 in Laverne. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1981. She became a Lawton resident in 1971 coming here from Chickasha.
She had owned and operated a Phillips 66 Station at 11th and Lee as well as a dump truck operation but she was primarily a homemaker. She would later marry William “Dub” Sams on June 30, 1995 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She enjoyed cards, puzzles and board games and loved her family deeply.
She is survived by her husband, Marlow; three sons and daughters in law, Stacy and Margaret Valentine, Geronimo, Stewart and Robin Valentine, Elgin, and Scott and Debbie Valentine, Newport, Arkansas; a sister and brother in law, Kathy and Daniel Beckman, Perry City, South Dakota; six grandchildren, Spencer Valentine, Chase Valentine, Mitchell Valentine and wife Christina, Keith Valentine, Krystin Valentine and Kylee Valentine; three great grandchildren, Brynli, Lexa and Kinsley Valentine.
Four sisters and a brother preceded her in death.

Judith Helen (Brown) Green, former Woodward resident and teacher, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2012, as the result of complications from a lengthy respiratory illness. Judith was born on July 15, 1941, in the Republic of Panama to John Morgan Brown of Hawkinsville, Ga. and Helen Geraldine (Greer-Brown) Collier of Woodward, Okla. She was 70 years old.

Thad Moser, 83 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Grace Living Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Woodward Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Shane Rackley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Vonton Cemetery, southeast of Woodward, under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Woodward.

Gail Preston Bailey
Gail Preston Bailey, 70 year old resident of Woodward, OK died Thursday, January 26 at his home. He was born on June 8, 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma to Homer and Pearl (Short) Bailey. He was a graduate of Garber High School. Gail grew up in the Garber/Covington oil fields. He joined the Air Force on February 2, 1961 and was on active duty to February 2, 1965. Gail was released from active duty on and assigned to Hq. Con AC (IRS) ARRC in Denver, completing His UMTS obligation on February 2, 1967. In June of 1967 Three Lockheed Aircraft went to Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam from Tinker Air Force Base. Gail received numerous certificates of training, aircraft maintenance technical and many other courses in his military career. Gail also had a diplomatic passport and top security clearance until his death.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Ricky Mercer officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Billings Funeral Home on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Winnie Ruth Moore, born November 20, 1915 near Foss, Oklahoma to Robert Edward and Ida Avera Harrison, passed from this life on January 18, 2012 at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center, Elk City, Oklahoma. She was 96 years of age.

ELLSWORTH "VERNIE" BELL
Ellsworth "Vernie" Bell passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at the age of 91. Vernie was born June 18, 1920, in Woodward, Okla. to Ira Sydney Bell and Jennie Ann Immell. He was a 1938 graduate of Woodward High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in India-Burma and central Burma during the China offensive. He retired from General Dynamics. He loved to bowl and travel with friends. Vernie was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Gene Bell. He is survived by sons Richard Bell and wife Debbie, and Darryl Bell and wife Pam; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Former Woodward resident Jeremy "Jerry" Weston Caywood went to his final home on January 14, 2012 in Battlement Mesa, Colorado. Jeremy was born in Woodward Memorial Hospital on March 20, 1981 to Michael Arlen and Sharon Kay (Pipins) Caywood.
