DR. COETA EVANS
Celebration of life services for Dr. Coeta Grimes Evans will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2013, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Hook and Mike Taylor officiating. Interment will be prior to the service in the Alva Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva. A visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
Dr. Coeta Grimes Evans, daughter of the late Mertle (Hulett) Grimes/Gastineau and Crayton Grimes, was born September 8, 1927, in Lenora, Oklahoma, and passed away February 17, 2013, at Woodward, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 9 days.
Coeta graduated from Lenora Elementary School and Taloga High School. She received higher education degrees from Oklahoma College for Women; Master of Arts from Phillips University; and Doctorate of Education Degree from Oklahoma State University. She also studied Grenoble University in Grenoble, France and the University of Clermont-Ferrand in Vichy, France in courses of History, Foods, French, and Art.
She married Earl Evans on April 27, 1950, in Newkirk. She taught highschool Science, French, and Home Economics in Garfield, Grant, and Kingfisher County schools, concluding her teaching career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, culminating 30 years of teaching and retiring as Chair of the Home Economics Department and Emeritus Professor in 1990.
She was baptized in the Baptist Faith and is a current member of the First Baptist Church in Alva. She was a member of the Cherokee Outlet Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution; Chapter C, PEO, Delta Kappa Gamma, Alva Research Club, and Beta Sigma Phi.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Evans; her son, Kerry Evans; her sister, Dixie Hays; her stepfather, Homer Gastineau; and two half brothers.
Coeta is survived by her children, Dr. Kendall Evans and wife, Judy, of Aspen, Colorado and their children, Jamie, Jill, Scott, and Katy; Kevin Evans and wife, Tracy, of Woodward and their children, Taryn and Desa; Karyl Evans Morrison and husband, Russ, of Hudson Ohio and their children, Kolton, Kelsey, and Kimberly; one sister, Ardith Gastineau of Weatherford, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva First Baptist Church or the Cherokee Outlet Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution in Alva.

Lloyd Lorn Elston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born September 24, 1919 to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Elston west of Laverne, Oklahoma in Beaver County. He was the 12th child out of 13 and the youngest boy in the family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating. Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

LaRoy “Chuck” Vernon Bailey, 74 year old rural Fargo resident, was born March 26, 1939 at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Loys and Margretha (Toellner) Bailey. He attended school at Fargo, graduating with the “Class of 1959”. After graduating High School he went to mechanics school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he completed the certification requirements to be an auto mechanic.

Mary Ann Hunt Berry was born in Camargo, OK on Aug. 24, 1933 to Anna Mildred Blair Hunt and Herman Edward Hunt. She was one of ten children. She departed this life on April 30, 2013. She attended Camargo Schools, and graduated with the class of 1951. She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.

R.A. Lotspeich
R.A. Lotspeich, 81 year old Rosston, Oklahoma, farmer and rancher passed away Friday, May 3, 2013. The only son of Kenney and Osie Lotspeich, R.A. was born March 24, 1932, graduated Rosston High School 1949, and Oklahoma A & M in 1954 with a degree in agriculture. During his college career, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and the college rodeo team, excelling in bull riding. Having been an ROTC cadet at Oklahoma A & M, R.A. went on to serve as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army for two years and was honorably discharged in 1955.
