Robert L. Dodd

Woodward, Okla. — Robert L. Dodd, 89 year old Woodward resident, died Thursday,  February 7, 2013 in the Vici Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tony Barros officiating.  Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery with the United States Army providing military graveside rites.

 

Robert Lee Dodd was born on February 5, 1924 in Kismet, Kansas to Robert L. and Flora (Rhiness) Dodd.  He was reared in Kismet and attended school there.  Bob was inducted into the United States Army and served his country in England during World War II before being honorably discharged as a Sergeant E6 in 1945.  He was united in marriage to Joyce Elaine Criswell on March 15, 1947 in Liberal, Kansas.  They made their home in the Liberal, Kansas area.  The family moved to a farm near Woods, Kansas in 1950 and in 1956 they returned to Liberal where Bob went to work in the oilfield.  Bob moved his family to Woodward in 1963 and worked for Jakes Casing where he was Vice President.  He later worked as Area Salesman for Cantwell Casing, Clarence Casing, Well Tech and Weatherford Lamb.

 

Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church and was Baptized in 1984.  He enjoyed serving in the church and being with his family.  He delivered church prayer request sheets to shut in members.  He also enjoyed the “church singings” at Canton.  Bob loved fishing at Canton Lake with his brother-in-law, Bill House, who preceded him in death last year and a great friend, Dean Randell.  He also enjoyed hunting pheasants and quail with Ken Paulson and numerous other family and friends.

 

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks Lodge, and the American Petroleum Institute.

 

He is survived by one son, Robert James Dodd and wife Patricia of Edgewood, Texas; one daughter, Sharon Geerdes and husband Terry of Bixby; daughter-in-law, Johnny Tice of Lees Summit, Missouri; one sister, Billie Jean House of Liberal, Kansas; six grandchildren, Christopher Geerdes of Los Angeles, California, Trevor Geerdes and wife Sonia of San Mateo, California, Jackie Gray and husband Kevin of Castle Rock, Colorado, Jerri Heizer and husband Tim of Lees Summit, Missouri, Jan Hathcock and husband Mike of Lees Summit, Missouri, Dawn Garrison and husband Troy of Tyler, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Tora Geerdes, Skylar and Tanner Gray, Madison and Grant Heizer, Colton and Bennett Baxter, Amanda Ripple; special friend, Betty Mitchell of Woodward; other relatives and friends.

 

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce in 2010, sons, Steve and Charlie Dale, brothers Tom Dodd and Roy Smith and sisters, Leona Bullard and Audrey Jarvis.

 

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church Building Fund with the funeral home accepting.

    Lana Jean Ramsey, 46 year old Vici resident, passed from this life Thursday, May 9, 2013. Lana was born on October 20, 1966 in Alva, Oklahoma to Lance and Mona Jean Stephenson. As a child Lana lived on the farm near Webb, Oklahoma and attended Taloga High School graduating with the class of 1983.

    Lloyd Lorn Elston went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born September 24, 1919 to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) Elston west of Laverne, Oklahoma in Beaver County. He was the 12th child out of 13 and the youngest boy in the family.

    Jo Ann Keltch, 68 year old Sharon resident, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday,  May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

    LaRoy “Chuck” Vernon Bailey, 74 year old rural Fargo resident, was born March 26, 1939 at Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Loys and Margretha (Toellner) Bailey. He attended school at Fargo, graduating with the “Class of 1959”. After graduating High School he went to mechanics school at Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he completed the certification requirements to be an auto mechanic.

    Mary Ann Hunt Berry was born in Camargo, OK on Aug. 24, 1933 to Anna Mildred Blair Hunt and Herman Edward Hunt.  She was one of ten children.  She departed this life on April 30, 2013.   She attended Camargo Schools, and graduated with the class of 1951.  She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, where she completed her bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.

  • R. A. Lotspeich R.A. Lotspeich

      R.A. Lotspeich, 81 year old Rosston, Oklahoma, farmer and rancher passed away Friday, May 3, 2013.  The only son of Kenney and Osie Lotspeich, R.A. was born March 24, 1932, graduated Rosston High School 1949, and Oklahoma A & M in 1954 with a degree in agriculture.  During his college career, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and the college rodeo team, excelling in bull riding.  Having been an ROTC cadet at Oklahoma A & M, R.A. went on to serve as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army for two years and was honorably discharged in 1955.
