Woodward, Okla. —
Kenny Bowers, 73 year old Woodward resident, went to be with his Lord on Sunday morning, August 29, 2010 at the Woodward Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with brain cancer, during which he defied many odds. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Woodward with the Reverend Jason Dirks officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Kenneth Wesley Bowers was born July 4, 1937 in Cestos, Oklahoma to Ira Kenneth and Emma Elizabeth (Cathey) Bowers. They lived on the family farm southeast of Vici and Kenny attended Pleasant Ridge School until 8th grade. Kenny then attended Vici schools and graduated from Vici High School in 1954. He then attended a trade school in Wichita, Kansas. On September 23, 1955, he married Shirley Ann Wilson and to this union three children were born, Wesley, Pam, and Jana. They made their home in Woodward.
On January 7, 1968, he married the love of his life, Betty Jo Tuck and to this union two sons were born, Jimmy and K.J. and they made their home southwest of Woodward. Kenny worked for Bosch Electric where he started as a traveling salesman, then worked behind the counter before becoming part-owner. In his 38 years at Bosch Kenny met and made many friends. Kenny never met a stranger; he was a friend to all. He retired from Bosch Electric in 1998. He then started running the bulk mail route to many small towns around the Woodward area for the next ten years. He worked at the High Plains Technology Center until his illness in September of 2009.
Kenny was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. He was a devoted member and very involved with his church family. He served his church in many capacities, including bus driver, team kids, and his special gift was official hugger and greeter to all.
Kenny was truly devoted to his family, especially his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He loved traveling and spent every free moment camping or trading campers. He was one of a kind. He loved living life to the fullest and will be truly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two daughters, Pam Goodall and husband Mike of Yukon, Jana Mistler and Tom Shipley of Yukon; two sons, Jimmy Bowers of Woodward, K.J. Bowers and wife Melissa of Woodward; grandchildren, Justin Bowers, David Lack, Jennifer Powers, Jon Ledford, Jeremy Ledford, Wesley Bowers Jr., Chris Lack, Kyrstin Bowers, Kali Goodall, Britainee Bowers, Kolby Bowers, Korbin Bowers, Kelton Bowers; sisters, Karen Wieden and husband Jay of Harmon, Beverly Morris and husband Wiley of Vici; brother, Donnie Bowers and wife Rita of Woodward; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Wesley Dean Bowers on July 31, 1987.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society for Glioblastoma Multiform Grade 4 Brain Cancer with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

Thad Moser, 83 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Grace Living Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Woodward Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Shane Rackley will officiate. Interment will follow in the Vonton Cemetery, southeast of Woodward, under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Woodward.

Gail Preston Bailey, 70 year old resident of Woodward, OK died Thursday, January 26 at his home. He was born on June 8, 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma to Homer and Pearl (Short) Bailey. He was a graduate of Garber High School. Gail grew up in the Garber/Covington oil fields. He joined the Air Force on February 2, 1961 and was on active duty to February 2, 1965. Gail was released from active duty on and assigned to Hq. Con AC (IRS) ARRC in Denver, completing His UMTS obligation on February 2, 1967. In June of 1967 Three Lockheed Aircraft went to Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam from Tinker Air Force Base. Gail received numerous certificates of training, aircraft maintenance technical and many other courses in his military career. Gail also had a diplomatic passport and top security clearance until his death.

Ellsworth "Vernie" Bell passed away Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at the age of 91. Vernie was born June 18, 1920, in Woodward, Okla. to Ira Sydney Bell and Jennie Ann Immell. He was a 1938 graduate of Woodward High School. He was a World War II veteran, serving in India-Burma and central Burma during the China offensive. He retired from General Dynamics. He loved to bowl and travel with friends. Vernie was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Gene Bell. He is survived by sons Richard Bell and wife Debbie, and Darryl Bell and wife Pam; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
