Jim Ray Eskew

Woodward, Okla. — Jim Ray Eskew, 69, of Fort Cobb passed away Monday, August 27th, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City.  Jim was born in El Reno, OK, on March 17, 1943, a son of the late Amanda Martha (Hollingshead) and Leo Eugene Eskew.

 

A 1961 graduate of Yukon High School, he married Karen (Chesser) on August 10, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Yukon.

 

Jim worked for OG&E for 41 years, retiring in 2001.

 

While living in Muskogee Jim was a Mason and Shriner and devoted much time to the organizations.Jim was also a football and basketball official for more than 25 yeras.  Moving to Woodward he became involved with the Elks, serving on the Rodeo Committee.

 

Jim loved to cook, and in his retirement would cater large events.  He also loved to weld and was always doing for others.

 

He is survived by his wife Karen of the home in Ft. Cobb; son, Jeff Eskew of Oklahoma City; daughter, Sonya Roddy and husband Monte of Mustang; grandson,  Austin Roddy of Mustang; brother, Don Eskew of Yukon; sisters, Carol Haymaker and husband Melvin of Hennessey, Marilyn Saling of Corona, CA and Martha Deal and husband Gene of Oklahoma City; uncle and aunt, Bill and Florence Eskew of Yukon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Bobbie Gene Eskew.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Bedouin Temple Transportation Fund, PO Box 1667, Muskogee, OK, 74402 or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Diabetes Research, 825 NE 13th, Oklahoma City, OK  73104.

 

Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon.  Services will be held Thursday August 30, at 2:00 p.m., at the Yanda & Son Chapel, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.

Many great memories have been created for family and friends in this beautiful golfing community.

    Jo Ann Keltch, 68 year old Sharon resident, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating.  Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday,  May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
