Bonnie B. Hickman

Woodward, Okla. — Bonnie B. Hickman, 85 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012 in the First Christian Church.  Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Bonnie Belle (Heimiller) Hickman was born on December 29, 1926 in Stafford, Kansas to Howard and Jesse (Fox) Heimiller.  Bonnie was raised and started school in Maxwell, Kansas.  She graduated high school from Wichita East High School in Wichita, Kansas.  Bonnie worked for the IRS in Washington D.C. before going to work as a Legal Secretary for her uncle Jack Copeland.  It was there that she met H.C. “Red” Hickman.  They were united in marriage on June 15, 1953 in the First Christian Church Parsonage in Larned, Kansas.  They spent their early married life in Great Bend, Kansas.  Their son’s Bradley Lynn and Gregory Scott were born in Great Bend.  Bonnie loved to sew, cook, play bridge and take care of her “boys”.

The family moved to Woodward in 1961.  Bonnie was an excellent housewife when the boys were growing up.  She belonged to several organizations and was a dedicated Cub Scout leader.

Red and Bonnie started Hickman Drilling in 1975 in Woodward.  At that time Bonnie did whatever needed to be done, (except roughnecking).  Once her boys were working, Bonnie started playing golf.  She loved playing golf with her friends and her son Greg, even thought she always said, “she played like a dog.”  She was an excellent golf instructor to daughter-in-law, Jacque and grandson Jonathan.

Bonnie’s pride and joy was her family.  She was the best Mimi in all the land to Stacy, Jonathan and Samantha.  She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband HC Hickman of the home; one son, Brad Hickman and wife Debbie of Woodward; daughter-in-law, Jacque Hickman of Tulsa; grandchildren, Jonathan Hickman and wife Krystal of Denver, Colorado, Stacy Taylor and husband Josh of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Samantha Hickman of Norman; one brother Gerald Heimiller and wife Earlene of Abilene, Kansas; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Carmen Keating and her son Gregory Scott Hickman on November 14, 2010.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greg Hickman Memorial Scholarship Fund with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
