Woodward, Okla. —
Bill Smithton, 66 year old Woodward area resident, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 north of Laverne as a result of an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church of Woodward. Interment will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Rosston. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Dee William Smithton was born on February 8, 1946 in Sedro Wooley, Washington to Dee Witt and Thelma Mabelle (Wilson) Smithton. Bill was reared in Rosston and graduated from Rosston High School in 1964. He was very active in sports and attended Oklahoma State University on a Track Scholarship. During his high school years he was the fastest person in the state in the 100 yard dash and the Rosston basketball team won the state championship twice. Bill received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy in 1968.
Bill was united in marriage to Linda Kay Sukdol on January 20, 1966 at the First Baptist Church in Laverne, Oklahoma. They were blessed with two sons, William Shane and Corby Wade. They lived in Concordia, Kansas and Laverne before moving to Woodward in 1970. Bill worked for Ralston Purina in Concordia and L&L Paving in Laverne. He went to work for Robinson Brothers Drilling in Woodward in 1972 and worked there until 1983. He started Wolf Creek Enterprises in 1984 and later Harper County Farms.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing sports, fishing, drag racing his 1952 Studebaker, which he later restored and watching his grandkids play sports. He also enjoyed snow skiing, being at the farm and playing with his dog Sport. What Bill loved the most was his family, especially his son’s and grandchildren. One of Bill’s most treasured time was his float trips with his boys.
He is survived by his wife Linda Smithton; two sons, Shane Smithton of Woodward, Corby Smithton and wife Colbi of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Drake Smithton, Shelbi Smithton, Jack Smithton and Ty Smithton; one sister Betty Dhotre and husband Deepak of Chicago, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Thelma Smithton and a sister Linda in 1948.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rosston United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

Jan and his wife of 56 years have enjoyed the last 20 years of semi-retirement in Hot Springs Village AR. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the South Persimmon Baptist Church with the Reverend Jay Custar and the Reverend Eddie White officiating. Burial will follow in the South Persimmon Cemetery under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
