Woodward, Okla. — Bob Gene Jackson, 83 year old Woodward resident died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Shaw Memorial Chapel, Vici, Oklahoma with Pastor Junior Zollinger officiating.



Bob was born on June 20, 1929 in Rogers, Arkansas to John and Wilma (McGinnis) Jackson. Bob lived and started school in Arkansas until the family moved to Oklahoma. Bob and his family resided one mile west of Vici where he attended Vici Public Schools graduating with the class of 1947.



On March 20, 1947 Bob married Mary Lorene Hixson in Canadian, Texas.  During their first year of marriage, the couple lived in Vici where Bob worked as a butcher at Best Way Grocery Store.  In 1948 they moved to Enid and Bob worked as a route manager for Martha Ann Bread Company. Bob served his country from 1952 to 1954 in the United States Army.  He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.



The couple found themselves in Eugene, Oregon from 1955 to 1981.  Bob became a business forms salesman, which he very much enjoyed.  He also worked at a nursery business on the side.  The nursery business became one of Bob’s favorite things along with raising cattle and bowling with his family and friends. In 1981 Bob and Lorene made their way back to Western Oklahoma living on the farm southeast of Harmon.  While there he raised cattle and did some carpentry and roofing work. Bob and Lorene moved to Woodward in 1997 where they resided until the time of his death. Bob was a member of the Lane Leaders and the Elk’s Club.  



Bob was preceded in death by his father, John Jackson; mother, Wilma Neher, In-laws Ernest and Mary Hixson, eight aunts and four uncles.  He is survived by his wife, Lorene Jackson of the home; sister Jerri Anderson of Kent, Washington; sister-in-law, Geneva Humberg of Shelton, Washington; six nieces, three nephews, other family and a host of friends.

    Leona Austin, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home south of Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
