Woodward, Okla. —

Donald Ray Smith was born October 6, 1957 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Donald Franklin Smith and Ruth Ann Wellman. He passed away August 30, 2012 in Salina, Kansas.

He was married to Cindy Kay Patton in 1976 at Longmont, Colorado and they had two children, Jennifer Ann and Donald Ray Smith, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Mankle, sisters Barbara Weishaupl and Beverly Russell, and brother James Smith.

He is survived by daughter Jennifer Hall and husband, Matt, and granddaughters Hanna & Addison of Firestone, Colorado, son Donald of Longmont, Colorado, sister Sherry Metcalf of Woodward, Oklahoma, brother-in-laws Jack Weishaupl of Salina, Kansas, Ken Russell of Brighton, Colorado, step-father Marvin Mankle of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, “father” Don Smith of Boles, Arkansas, and many other relatives.

Services are pending with Ryans Mortuary Inc. of 137 N. 8th, Salina, Kansas.

He was cremated and there will be no burial.

    Leona Austin, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home south of Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home

  • Karl Platte Karl Wayne Platte

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

    Lamont Munsell, 92 year old Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the Mooreland Heritage Manor.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Mooreland.  Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Mooreland.
