Woodward, Okla. — Kay Cheap (Mary Kathryn McClung), 67, of Olustee, Oklahoma, passed away on December 27, 2012 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Cremation services are under the care of the Kincannon Funeral Home.



Mary Kathryn was born on September 9, 1945 to Ancil “Shorty” and Edna Carlene (Taylor) McClung in Perryton, Texas.  She grew up in Perryton, Texas.  She married J. E. Cheap on April 20, 1970 in Woodward, Oklahoma.  Kay was a hairdresser for forty-five years.  In 2005, she moved to Olustee, Oklahoma.  She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, genealogy, fishing and traveling.

   

She was preceded in death by her father, Shorty McClung, her mother and stepfather, Carlene and V.R. Coon, her husband, J.E. Cheap, and two grandsons, Timothy and John.



Ms. McClung is survived by two daughters, Melynda Bettis and husband, Larry, of Amarillo, Texas, and Michelle Burdine Tally and husband, Eddie, of Olustee, Oklahoma; one stepson, Leland Cheap and wife, Jody, of San Antonio, Texas; one stepdaughter, Becky Ratliff of Woodward, Oklahoma; one sister, Sue Payne and husband, Jerry, of Austin, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    Leona Austin, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home south of Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
