Woodward, Okla. — Dale Neagle, 86 year old Woodward resident died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 in the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Charlie Graves officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery with military rites provided by the United States Navy. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
John Dale Neagle was born on June 17, 1925 on the home place at Mutual, Oklahoma to Homer Albert and Nellie Edna (Symes) Neagle. Dale grew up in Mutual and graduated from Mutual High School. Dale was inducted into the United States Navy December 1, 1944. He served his country as a Radarman 3rd Class during World War II and was honorably discharged on July 8, 1946. Dale was united in marriage to Verla June Ray on December 25, 1948 at the First United Methodist Church in Woodward. Dale and Verla lived with her parents in Woodward after their marriage and he then built their first home at 104 E. Webster a few blocks away. Dale started farming as a young man but after his marriage to Verla they ran a Tastie Freeze in North Carolina for a while. He worked in the oilfield and then the CO-OP. Dale later managed the Farmers CO-OP in Vici and Okeene. Dale and Verla along with Steve and Brenda owned Neagles Mobile Homes.
Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Woodward. He enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. He loved family get together’s and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
He is survived by his wife Verla June Neagle of the home; three sons, Greg and Cathy Neagle of Woodward, Steve and Brenda Neagle of Woodward, Troy and Lisa Neagle of Wagoner; three brothers, Lyle and Sandra Neagle, Louis and Elva Mae Neagle, Robert Neagle; two sisters, Glennys and Jesse Shillings, Mary Nell and Joe Graves; four grandchildren, Trent Neagle, Cory Neagle, Amber Burge and Byron Neagle; three great-grandchildren, Bailee and Zane Neagle and Eden Neagle; one step-great grandchild, Zayne Herron; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his oldest brother and wife, Merle and Darlene Neagle and sister-in-law, Betty Neagle.
