George A. Ridenour, 85 year old Mooreland area resident, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Shattuck. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland. Interment will be in the Mooreland Cemetery with the United States Navy providing the military graveside rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Woodward on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
George Andrew Ridenour was born on July 24, 1927 in Waukomis, Oklahoma to Courtney Andrew and Elsie Marie (Steininger) Ridenour. George was reared in the Cedardale and Quinlan communities and attended school in Quinlan. He graduated from Quinlan High School in 1945. George was inducted into the United States Navy on June 12, 1945 and served his country during World War II as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was honorably discharged in October of 1947 and moved back to the Mooreland area to help his dad on the family farm. George later moved to Wichita, Kansas and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic for Boeing Aircraft. It is there that he met Bernice Schmidt. They were united in marriage on May 4, 1956 at the United Methodist Church Parsonage in Enid, Oklahoma. They made their home in Wichita, Kansas before moving to Mooreland in 1959. George went to work for the Mooreland Coop and worked there for a couple of years before going to work for Christian Services which later became Well Tech. He started out as an Operator and later became the Head Mechanic, retiring in 1997.
He is survived by one daughter Karen Howland and husband Jacques Ball of Norman; one son Charles Ridenour and wife Elaine of Enterprise, Alabama; grandchildren, Lieutenant Richard Ridenour, USN and wife Johnna of San Diego, California, CW4 Christopher Ridenour and wife Paige of Madison, Alabama, Sean Ridenour and wife Vesta of Edmond, Joshua Ridenour and wife Valerie of Oak Park, Illinois, Courtney Ridenour Fogarty and husband Captain Jason Fogarty of Pooler, Georgia, Rick Howland and wife Gwen of Edmond, Kim Berry of Norman, Jacq Ball and wife Monica of Norman, Brandi Ball of Norman, Monique Ball of Seattle, Washington; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Patrick Ridenour, Logan and Sydney Ridenour, Gus and Ahna Ridenour, Jack Ridenour, Kyle Fogarty, Maddox Fogarty, Aubrey Fogarty, Shelby Howland, Haley Howland, Chase Howland, Kaci Howland, Allison Berry; two sisters, Kay Hinkle of Pratt, Kansas, Donna Hatfield of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernice on September 7, 1995 and a granddaughter Dawn Howland in February of 1964, and granddaughter Natasha Nicole Ridenour in 1980.

Karl Wayne Platte
Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age. He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.
