Woodward, Okla. —
Wyatt Raymond Terbush was born on March 3, 1920 to Thomas Victor and Bonnie K. (Probst) Terbush in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at his home north of Mooreland at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 16 days. He was the youngest of 9 children.
Wyatt grew up in Rosston, Oklahoma. He always had a story to tell his children, grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, or whoever would listen, about surviving the dust bowl days, going to the river, and all kinds of hunting and fishing stories. His life was full of stories and he never met a person he did not like that he couldn’t think of some story to tell them. Wyatt married Joyce Elaine Crissup on June 14, 1944 and they enjoyed over 68 years of marriage. Grampy swore that they never had a serious argument. Wyatt lived to be 92 years of age due to the loving care of his wife. To this union four wonderful daughters were born, Linda Lea, Susan Beth, Marsha Elaine, and Marlyn Joy. Wyatt and Joyce made their home in Gate, Oklahoma where they farmed and raised their four daughters for over 30 years until his retirement. They then purchased land north of Mooreland and built the current home in which they now reside.
Wyatt was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed taking any and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who would go with him. He gave them all a love for the outdoors. Wyatt loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren anytime he could. He loved gardening and wood crafting of any kind. He handcrafted all of his grandchildren a rocking horse from the cedar on his land. There isn’t a grandchild or great-grandchild who doesn’t have something that their Grampy didn’t make them with his own two hands. Wyatt never had a dull moment and never met a stranger. He was quite a man and his shoes can never be filled. Our hearts are empty with his loss yet full at the same time with all that he has taught us and the memories we will cherish.
In 1977, Wyatt and Joyce decided it would be fun to host a pig roast for their family and friends. This was quite an undertaking but they did it successfully for over 40+ years.
Wyatt is survived by his loving wife Joyce of the home; daughters, Linda Roundtree and husband Karl of Mooreland, Susan Hague of Woodward, Marlyn Persons and husband Danny of Woodward, Grandchildren, Tammie Smith and husband David Svejkovsky, Maschielle Brakefield and Kyle Sloan, Brett Bates and wife Gina, Jason Roundtree, Matthew Stahlman and wife Jeannie, Kristi Shaw and husband Brian, Lauren Cooper and husband Chris, Julie Reames and husband Rick, Heidi Brown and Steve Hutson, Tad Eike, Haley Persons and Eric Delong, 32 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Wyatt in death were his parents, his eight siblings, one daughter Marsha Coffey, son-in-law Chuck Hague and one great-grandchild Joshua Stahlman.
Memorials may be made to the family with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
