Dorothy Marie Stewart

Woodward, Okla. — Dorothy Marie Stewart, 92 year old Woodward resident and former Balko, Oklahoma resident, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the Vici Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Community Worship Center in Perryton, Texas.  Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery, south of Bryan’s Corner, Oklahoma.  Visitation will be held at the church in Perryton from 10:30 a.m. until service time.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.

 

Dorothy Marie (Presnall) Stewart was born on August 27, 1920 in Amorita, Oklahoma to Claude Ernest and Vera LaVilla (Millard) Presnall Barnett.  Dorothy moved to Blue Mound, Oklahoma at the age of 8.  She attended Blue Mound School and graduated from Carmen High School in 1937.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Guy Stewart on August 14, 1943 in Beaver, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Gray, Oklahoma.

 

Dorothy was a member of the Gray Church.  She was a founding member of the Gray “Happy Helpers” Home Demonstration Club.  She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  She and Guy loved listening to Big Band music, especially Glen Miller.   

 

She is survived by her two sons, Max Stewart and wife Carla of Tulsa, Lyndon “Bim” Stewart and wife Roxie of Perryton, Texas; two daughters, Connie Carpenter of Henderson, Nevada, Leslie Raney and husband Chet of Woodward; eight grandchildren, Andrew Stewart, Brett Stewart, Scott Stewart, Sarah Carpenter, James Stewart, Avery Raney, Debbie Webb, Shannon Hallet; 11 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Guy Stewart in 1998 and her brother Johnie Presnall.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Alzheimer’s Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

  • Karl Platte Karl Wayne Platte

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
