Eunice Underwood

Woodward, Okla. — Eunice Underwood 88 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, September 16, 2012 in the Woodward Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jay Custar officiating.  Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

 

Eunice Dorthy (Richardson) Underwood was born on April 1, 1924 in Ellis County to C.R. “Jack” and Pearl (Bales) Richardson.  She attended Luther Hill School finishing her senior year at Shattuck High School.  On November 25, 1942, Eunice was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Underwood.  Eunice obtained her teaching certificate and taught at Luther Hill while Bob served in the United States Army during World War II.  They made their home north of Shattuck, moving to Arnett in 1956 and to Woodward in 1958.  They were blessed with two children, Roger and Karen.  Eunice worked at Cowden’s Manufacturing, waited tables in local restaurants, finally working at the Hilo Restaurant which she and Bob bought and ran for several years.  She retired in 1980 and in 1981 she began “babysitting” her grandson.

 

Eunice’s favorite occupation was her family who she showered with love.  Her favorite past times were cooking, reading and cross word puzzles.

 

She is survived by her children, Roger and Mary Ann Underwood of Canon City, Colorado and Ron and Karen Fields of Woodward; her grandchildren, Justin and Daphne Horn of Canon City and Robbie and Jennifer Fields of Woodward; her great-grandbabies, Ross and Ryan Fields of Woodward.  She is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Underwood of Woodinville, Washington, Phyllis and Dempsey Elkouri of Hobart; one brother, Clifford Richardson of Sharon; two sisters-in-law Annie Richardson of Duncan and Carol Richardson of Hayesville, Kansas and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, sisters Gladys and Maxine, brothers Cecil and Vernon and two grandchildren, Randy and Rebecca Fields.

 

Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Stroke Research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.

  • Karl Platte Karl Wayne Platte

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
