Woodward, Okla. — Hester Baggs, loving wife, mother, aunt, and dear friend left to join the Lord on Saturday September 8, 2012.  She was born March 27, 1935 in Stringtown, Oklahoma to Quiller and Annie (Vanoni) Carter.  She married Billie Owens Baggs on September 13, 1958 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.  They made their home in Lindsey.  They moved to Odessa, Texas in 1963; moved back in 1986.  They made their home in Longdale in December of 2011 and moved in with their daughter in Woodward due to illness.  Hester was a hairdresser and had an in home daycare.

 

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing and being with her family.  She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Carl, Gilbert, Delbert, Lester, Willie and J. D.

 

She is survived by her husband, Billie of the home, her sons, Clarence F. Baggs, Billie B. Baggs and wife Ruth all of Odessa, Texas; Daughter, Charlotte A. Cannon and husband Johnny of Woodward; brother Clarence Carter and wife, Mildred of Sharon; sisters, Imogene Honeycutt of Wellston; Clara Martin and husband J. R. of Foster; five grandchildren, Kristi Craig and husband Rick; Karri Morgan and husband Dustin; Tessa Conklin and husband Dustin all of Odessa, Texas; Christopher Bickle and wife Amber; Ashley Cannon of Woodward; six great grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Alexis, Gabriel, Kaiden and Luke; many nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the old Longdale school in Longdale, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Woodward. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home.

    Leona Austin, 91 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at her home south of Woodward.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home

  • Karl Platte Karl Wayne Platte

    Karl Wayne Platte was born December 2, 1980 to Kenny and Gail Platte in Big Spring, Texas. Karl tragically left this life on June 1, 2013 as a result of a car accident. He was 32 years of age.  He moved with his family to Dora, New Mexico in 1986. While in Dora, Karl asked Jesus into his life at a very young age. It was there that Karl’s competitive, athletic spirit was kindled. In 1992, the Platte family moved to Wilson, Texas where Karl participated in every sport he could imagine and excelled in them all. He grew a great love for all sports and the outdoors.

    Funeral services for Wilda Marie Schmidt age 84 of Woodward will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jim Steenbergen officiating.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery beside her beloved husband Earl.  Visitation will be held on June 3, 2013 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

    Pauline Henrietta McClung was born December 21, 1921, to Henry Matthews McClung and Phoebe Ferris James McClung on the family homestead farm west of May, Oklahoma. She died on May 29, 2013, at age 91 in Woodward, Oklahoma.

    Lamont Munsell, 92 year old Mooreland resident, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the Mooreland Heritage Manor.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Mooreland.  Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home of Mooreland.

    Lynn Gonser, 59 year old Woodward resident, died Sunday, May 26, 2013 in the Woodward Hospital.  Visitation will be held on Thursday May 30, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Billings Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at this time.  Services are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
