SEILING - Santa Claus arrives in Seiling at the city library at 5 p.m. Tuesday as part of a day of activities leading up to the 19th annual Lighted Christmas Parade.
The events are held to promote shopping at city retailers, chamber of commerce representatives said.
Santa will have photos taken with children until 6:30 p.m. All the kids will get a prize treat bag and receiving it enters them into a drawing for a huge stocking filled with toys that will be awarded during the festivities.
The day starts with a craft show and food tasting at city hall. The craft show goes from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the food tasting - with the theme "Make it With Sour Cream" is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Free wagon rides will start from the downtown Gazebo beginning at 5 p.m., and students will be caroling at the Gazebo during the evening.
A stew supper, with proceeds to benefit senior activities, is planned from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center.
A Mr. and Miss Snow Baby and Mistletoe contest will start in the school auditorium at 5:30 p.m. The Snow Baby contestants are ages 0-2 and the Mistletoe contestants are ages 3-5.
The parade begins at 7 p.m., in the parking lot of the school gym, then goes down Main Street.
Parade floats must be lighted and the theme this year is a "Cartoon Christmas."
