A winter storm warning for Woodward and the surrounding area has been dropped to a winter weather advisory, according to the national weather service.
Light snow fell overnight in the Woodward area and roads were slick in spots. More snow was expected during the day with 2 to 3 inches possible. Most of the heavy snow was expected to be east and south of Woodward.
The weather did cause the Woodward Chamber of Commerce to postpone its monthly luncheon scheduled Monday. Travel worries were a concern as thie speaker, Dr. Janet Cunningham, Northwestern president, would have to travel from Alva to the luncheon.
Also, Freedom, a small school in Woods County, said its buses would run 2 hours late on Monday with school starting at 10 a.m.
One set of basketball games have been postponed as well. The 7th, 8th and 9th grade games between Woodward and Guymon are off and no schedule date has been set yet.
Weather was expected to improve slowly as the week goes on with temperatures in the upper 40s by the weekend.
