Woodward, Okla. —
FARGO--Looking for some fun outdoor activities for the weekend and want to help a good cause at the same time?
Then travel to Fargo for Stewart's 3rd Annual White Trash Pasture Party. The party will be held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in a pasture located in a pasture a half-mile south of Fargo on County Road N/S 190. Camping areas will be provided for the weekend, so for those wanting to stake their spot early, gates will open at 6 p.m. on Sept. 6.
This year's Pasture Party will include live and silent auctions during the weekend along with 2 bands on Friday night and 2 bands on Saturday night, according to event organizer Steve Stewart.
"We will have kids games, a bike show and poker run, mud run for trucks and ATVs and various other 'redneck' games," Stewart said.
The bands that will be playing include the Jake Bowers Band, Brown Note Band, Brittany Roe Band and the headliner is Chad Sullins and the Last Call Coalition.
Stewart said that all are welcome to bring their campers or tents for the weekend. All the camping is free, but it is all primitive with no electricity, he said.
Concessions will be provided throughout the weekend or attendees may bring their own refreshments.
"Last year we had 1,500 people come through the gates, this year we are expecting 2,000," Stewart said.
HOW THE EVENT BEGAN
This annual event started after the untimely death of Stewart's son-in-law Chris Albert.
"Chris was killed on a drilling rig, just 13 days after his daughter was born," Stewart said.
The Stewart family started a memorial fund in Chris' name to help with immediate expenses for the families of other oil field workers who have been injured or killed.
"The memorial fund also contributes to the Woodward County Toy Drive with outdoor items such as fishing poles, ball gloves, anything to get children outdoors," Stewart said.
According to Stewart, Chris was a big outdoorsman so the memorial fund seeks to share and spread his love of the outdoors.
That's why admission to this weekend's festivities will only cost you a new outdoor toy or a monetary donation of your choice.
"We are looking for new fishing poles, ball gloves, basketballs, things of that nature," Stewart said.
