Woodward, Okla. —
Drivers using a portion of Western Avenue will need to look for an alternate route for a couple of days.
The segment of Western from Highway 270 to 48th Street will be closed for work on the drainage ditch, said County Commissioner Vernie Matt at the weekly commission meeting on Monday. Matt said the work should be completed in 2 or 3 days.
County commissioners also held a public hearing for the rezoning of land located at SW/4 of Section 15T22n-R20W.I.M and lots 1 through 27 at 270 Industrial Park South.
Of the 41 acres in that area, 2 tracts were being requested for rezoning from A-1 agricultural to I-2 general industrial, a 10 acre corner and a 1.92 acre corner along with all the lots marked 1 to 27.
The rest of the land is to be left agricultural.
After the hearing the commissioners approved the rezoning request.
DCP Southern Hills Pipeline, LLC wanted the county to waive the installation of concrete caps on county road crossings.
Caps are required by the county so workers will know where the pipelines are located when they need to do road work, commissoners said.
Commissioners turned down the request, voting to keep the caps a requirement in Woodward County as a safety precaution to their workers.
Bids were opened for the 300 gallon Wildlands skid unit for the Mutual Fire Department for use on the new cab and chassis that was approved at the Aug. 27 meeting.
There were 2 bids, one from Chief Fire and Safety for $13,478 and the other from Community Hardware/Conrad Fire Equipment for $14,500.
Commissioners were then asked to table the bids until the Oct. 1 meeting in order for the county fire chief to look them over.
The next meeting of the Woodward County Commissioners will be on Monday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. at the Woodward County Courthouse.
