Woodward, Okla. —
Woodward Regional Hospital is "Giving Cancer the Boot" this month and to keep with the theme different departments have decorated boots which will be auctioned off to raise money to support cancer research.
"The hospital gives out free t-shirts with mammograms," said Lori Messenger, marketing director for the hospital, "That's where the idea for "Give Cancer the Boot" came from. It started out a t-shirt design, then expanded from there."
The top 10 boots are currently on display at Persimmon Creek, and will also be displayed at the next chamber luncheon.
"We plan to auction them off next month to raise money for Relay for Life," said Messenger.
In addition to boots, the hospital is also hosting their Mammos, Massages, and Munchies event every Tuesday through October from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"This is a chance for women to get mammograms without having to take off from work," Messenger said. "Women really love it, they get neck and shoulder massages at the time. Its a convenient and fun atmosphere."
Appointments for the Mammos, Massages, and Munchies event are still available but expected to fill quickly, so those interested should contact the hospital at 254-8402.
