Filing set for Woodward city offices

Woodward, Okla. — Filing for municipal office in the City of Woodward opens on Monday at 8 a.m., said Carol Carrell, county election board secretary.

The filing period runs until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Filing will be open for 2 city commission seats - Ward 1 currently held by Mayor Roscoe Hill, and Ward 4 held by Michelle Williamson.

Ward 1 is mainly those residences between 22nd St. and 8th St. South of Oklahoma Ave. and includes additional residences along Elm, Cedar and Downs Aves. farther east to 1st St.  Ward 4 is essentially the easternmost part of the city including all residences east of 8th St. except for those along Elm, Cedar and Downs Ave. which are included in Ward 1.

The nonpartisan municipal election is scheduled for April 2.

    Teams at this year's Relay for Life in Woodward had a party.
    A birthday party that is, as they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the American Cancer Society (ACS).  They also celebrated how ACS seeks to help all cancer patients celebrate more birthdays.
    So during Friday night's Relay birthday party, the guests of honor were, as they are every year, the many local cancer survivors.
    The News visited with just a few of these brave battlers who shared stories about their individual journeys to overcome cancer.
