Churches to honor holiday

Several local and area churches will have Christmas service events this week.

At 6:30 p.m. today, Living Word Fellowship will present its children’s Christmas program featuring the characters of Mary, Joseph and a manger scene.

“There will be singing and a skit, all related to Christmas,” said church secretary Jennifer Ridenour.

First Assembly of God in Woodward will present a children’s program at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The event will feature Mary, Joseph, the three wise men, angels and shepherds, along with a Christmas choir.

Churches in the surrounding area will also conduct special celebrations for the holidays.

The First Baptist Church in Laverne will hold a Christmas dinner celebration at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 20.

“The dinner is pot luck and will be followed by Christmas music,” said Pastor Michael Wilcox.

At 11 a.m. Sunday, the First Baptist Church in Buffalo will present a musical, “Emmanuel, Celebrating Heaven’s Child.”

“It focuses on the name of Jesus, his birth and that he is king,” Pastor Jerry Hodges said.

Following at 6 p.m. Sunday, he said, the church will present a candlelight service with singing of Christmas carols and communion.
